Business Basics: Understanding Brand Awareness

Are you crystal-clear on your business brand?

What does your business brand stand for? Are the vision and mission statements clearly defined and written, for your clients and team members to see?

One of the topics that often makes me scratch my head, is when I’m speaking with entrepreneurs and small business owners about their business, and I say, “Tell me about your business brand.”

More times, than not, there’s a dead silence before they respond with either a. “The products/ service I sell are…”, or b. “What do you mean?”

If you haven’t figured it out, I preach and teach business basics. This is the crucial part, to any business, that doesn’t get the attention it needs!

Honestly… how do you start a business, if you’re not crystal-clear on your “Why”, “Who” and “How”?

I’ll tell you how, because I know first-hand. YES… I did the exact same thing, so I’m speaking from experience!

So, let’s cover a few key brand awareness basics, to help you out:

  • What’s your “Why”? – Passion or profit? This is your reason for starting your business in the first place.
  • Who are you serving? – This takes a lot of thought because, “Everyone” can’t be your answer. You have to narrow down the specifics of your ideal customer or client. That person, or Avatar, is who your marketing message need to be crafted for.
  • What are your offerings (products and services)? – How are you helping your customers and clients? Are you offering services, products or information?

Again, the above questions should help you get crystal-clear on a few crucial parts of your business brand. Your customers and clients should feel a sense of relief – or some sort of improvement – after experiencing your brand.

These questions are intended to get your juices flowing. This is not all of the information you need to know, to get crystal-clear on your business brand.

After answering these questions, though, you should have a much better idea of how to craft your marketing message. After all, the point of Brand Awareness is to attract your ideal audience, right?

Did I miss anything? What would you add to this topic? I love feedback!
