Business Basics: Rock Your Swag Like a BOSS!

Do you rock your SWAG like a Boss?

When you take on the role of Entrepreneur or Small Business Owner, there’s a mindset shift that must take place, if you want to see any level of success.

Simply put, you must trade in your employee badge for your name on the door that leads to the big corner office – even if your office is the dinette table in your kitchen.

Of course, this is figuratively speaking if your business doesn’t require a big office full of employees, and all that good stuff! Lol

I’m sure you get the point though.

Before you can GROW your business to the level where you have a large corner office, and dozens of employees, if that’s what you want, you must make quite a few mental adjustments.

See… many people think that they’re ready to manage their business growth every step of the way. Even, all the way up to the level of success that they’ve dreamed of, for many years.

Unfortunately, there are many hurdles, hoops and obstacles to get around, and over, along your road to SUCCESS.

The problem is that too many people think they can handle these issues alone. Smh

Going through the good and bad spots, alone, in your business, make your life much harder than necessary… Ugh! I urge you to enlist some help from outside sources. Here are a few ways to let others help you avoid these hurdles, BEFORE they come up:


  • Network with other business owners who are in the same industry that you are in, or want to start your business in.
  • Do your research! Study other big companies in your industry. Learn what hurdles they had to get over, and HOW they got over them. Thorough research is the only way to get as much information, as possible, to help you avoid – or conquer – the big hurdles you may face in your industry.
  • Hire a Business Coach or Mentor who can help you establish a rock-solid foundation for your business – online and offline. You can’t build an empire on quicksand!

Whether you’re still in the “planning phase” for your business, or you have already put the wheels in motion, you must stand out from the other businesses – and business owners – in your industry.

Simply put… you must display confidence in what you know, and what you can do.

When you walk into a room, people should KNOW you belong there.

When you speak to a prospective client or customer, they should KNOW you can help solve whatever problem they’re facing.

You are the Boss, so after your presentation, your prospective clients and customers should have NO unanswered questions about your business.

If you sense a little uncertainty, don’t hesitate to ask, “Do you have any questions or concerns?” In fact, I usually ask this question after I complete a main point in my presentation.

Your swag is your brand, and vice versa. Don’t pull a bait and switch with your clients and allies.

  • Do what you say, and say what you do.
  • “Keep it REAL!”
  • Be helpful, even if there’s not a check on the other side
  • Pay it forward.
